Isaac continues to spin closer to shore. At 1pm: 55 mi SSE mouth of MS river, winds: 75mph, pressure down to 975mb & moving NW (310) at 10 mph. Landfall expected early Wednesday, Midnight-2am, near the communities of Golden Meadow, Galliano & Cut Off. Track a few miles further west than previously forecast, now expected to pass southwest-west of New Orleans by about 25-35 miles. The revised track is also just to the west of Baton Rouge.
The official forecast has decreased the intensity forecast of the storm to just remaining a minimal category 1 hurricane. This means most locations will likely only see occasional hurricane force wind gusts and mainly just tropical storm force sustained winds. As a result, the main concern is FLOODING and the STORM SURGE!
A surge of over 10 feet is still expected for the southern coast of Mississippi and the southeastern coast of Louisiana.
