Significant Snow Becoming More Likely for Tennessee Valley

An Icy Mess For Central Alabama

This is a quick post with just my initial thought for accumulation across Northern Alabama and Southern-Middle Tennessee with regards to a likely winter storm Sunday night into Monday. Modeling data has been consistent and in-line with each other for a full day now and confidence continues to increase in the forecast. I have had just a brief chance to look at the new 12 z NAM data and is continues to show a nearly similar forecast as it and other computer forecasts have had for several runs now. As a result, I am feeling confident enough to put out an initial snow accumulation forecast for the Tennessee Valley of 4" to 8". I will fine tune this and provide additional accumulation forecasts for other locations in the Southeast in this afternoon's forecast
discussion. For now, though, it appears the heaviest snow should fall across the Tennessee Valley with a mix of snow and ice in Birmingham and abundant ice towards Montgomery.

In addition, I will continue to post more frequent updates, thoughts and images on my Facebook page so please make sure to bookmark it and follow me.

Thanks for reading,

"Doppler" Dale
