Widespread Severe Weather Possible from the Plains to the Mid-Atlantic

A slowly southward sagging cold front will interact with moist and unstable air across much of the United States from the Plains states to the Mid-Atlantic. This will set up for the possibility of widespread severe weather and as a result the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has issued a large slight risk area that covers much of the Plains, Mid-Mississippi Valley, Ohio Valley, Mid-South, Tennessee Valley and Mid-Atlantic. The highest risk exists along the Ohio River from the Mississippi confluence to Ohio-Pennsylvania border southward to the Tennessee border with Mississippi and Alabama. The main threat with be strong gusty winds and large hail; however, a few isolated tornados are also possible.
